DIY Donut Shoes

My daughter is heading to preschool in September and it’s really her first time being away from home without me.   She is a bit nervous about it, so I wanted to do something fun to calm her nerves for the big first day of school!  Pink frosted sprinkle donuts are her absolute favorite – so when I saw the pale pink shoes, I knew I had to make her some fabulous donut shoes! (Cue eye roll from my husband – he didn’t share my same “vision”.)

This is honestly going to be the easiest tutorial you’ve ever seen.

I started with these pale pink shoes from Gap Kids. When I picked them up, they were 50% off.  Gap always has sales going on – so I would keep an eye out!

I had a bunch of fabric paint in my craft stash, so I brought out the “sprinkle colors”.

Then, all I did was put little dashes of each color in a random order on the shoe to replicate sprinkles.  I mean come on…. doesn’t get much easier than that!

Halfway done!

Once I had both shoes painted, I let them dry and they were ready to wear!

She LOVES them!  Even my husband was impressed with the end result!

She has so much fun wearing them, and doesn’t want to take them off!  Hopefully now she’ll be excited to show them off to her new friends at school!

Ok, now I want a pair… and a donut! 😉

Thank you! She will! She’s starting to warm up to it. She has a couple friends in her class, too, so that will definitely help!

Hi Donna! I found the shoes at Gap Kids, but I’ve seen plain shoes all over the place – even the dollar store! Hope that helps!
