DIY Hair Bow Wreath for a Baby Girl

DIY Hair Bow Wreath

I was invited to a baby shower this past weekend, and when I went to go buy the gift for it, there was nothing left on the registry! (Maybe because I’m the worst, and waited until the last minute – but hey.)  A couple sippy cups, and some pacifiers, but that was basically it.  I decided to just get a gift card, but I still wanted to do a little more.

After I grabbed the gift card, I went to run a couple more errands and stopped in Walmart.  I was browsing the little girls’ section for my daughter and stumbled upon the accessories.  Ok, Walmart, BRAVO on your inexpensive bow selection.  Bra. Vo.   They had SO many bows to pick from and the most expensive ones were $1!   I grabbed a few packs of 3 for $2.50, a few 1 packs for $1 and a pack of 7 bows for $6.  I mean…. can you blame me?!  Here was my shopping cart.

(If you don’t have a Walmart near you, you can order them online here!)

So anyways, I knew I had to do something with these for a shower gift, since the mom-to-be was expecting a little girl.

I decided on a project that would keep the bows organized, look cute, and also be able to hang in the baby’s closet.  A bow wreath!

I got home and got to work.

I started by taking a wire hanger and shaping it into a circle.

Then, I wrapped the hanger in gold ribbon.  I periodically put dabs of hot glue to keep the ribbon in place.

Once I was done wrapping the ribbon, I grouped the bows with their similar colors and clipped them on.

How easy is that?  I ended up using about 30 bows (for less than $30 – not bad!).  I think it makes a great shower gift for a soon-to-be-mom of a little girl!  She has accessories for all outfits covered 😉

Here’s the back.

What do you think?  Pretty cute for a little girl, right?

This is such a cute cute idea! I love it! I’m going to make one for my sister in law that just had another baby girl. Thanks for the inspiration!

Aw that’s awesome, Kelli! Congrats on being an aunt again! It’s super easy to make and I’m sure she’ll love it!

Absolutely adorable! But you should have made an extra hanger. I guarantee she would appreciate a place for the next full batch of bows she accumulates. The bows seem to grow in the night. Really. A super idea I have not seen elsewhere.

can use cut pieces of plastic bags to make wreath too. Just tie equal length strips with a knot and leave ends loose.

Hi Sharon! You can definitely make a wreath out of plastic bags – sounds cute! The reason I used hair bows for this wreath is so that the baby girls can actually wear the hair bows and put them back on the wreath when they’re done for easy storage! 🙂
