To me, a master bedroom should be a place where you can come at the end of a long day and unwind. Serene, relaxing, and inviting. I wanted to create a space for my husband and myself that was ours. Now, for those of you who have been following my blog for a while, you know that we just spent a lot of money buying a new house – so we didn’t have a huge budget to make our master bedroom ours. We thought about maybe living with how the previous homeowners had theirs until we could afford to make the space ours. However, once we walked into our new house for the first time after closing, we quickly realized the previous owners didn’t paint behind their headboard – so the master bedroom was two very different colors. And THAT was something we really couldn’t live with.
We decided the master bedroom was going to be a high priority makeover. In order to make it happen, I collaborated with Cost Plus World Market on a budget of $1,500. I was thrilled to be working with them and SO up for the challenge. We’re talking all new furniture, bedding, and accessories while staying within $1,500! I still wanted to make it serene, beautiful and inviting – and even though I was on a budget, I did not want it to look cheap.
I lightened up the space with some paint (I used Sherwin-Williams Aesthetic White), headed to my computer to do some online shopping and here it is now!
I could not believe the selection of affordable bedroom furniture that Cost Plus World Market has to offer! I was mainly focused on making the space light and bright, capitalizing on the natural light in the room. I first browsed through the beds, and ultimately chose the Textured Woven Rae Upholstered Bed in “Dove”. Since I chose light paint for the walls, I wanted to contrast them with a gray headboard to make the bed the focal point of the room.
I immediately fell in love with the Indian Floral Alisha Quilt when I saw it. It fit my goal of “light and bright” while still adding some color to the space. I added the set of 2 King size shams to complete the bedding.
I can never have enough storage, so when I saw the Gray Wood Layne Nightstands, I had to have them. The color of the nightstands compliment the upholstered headboard so well, so it was a win all around!
My husband and I sometimes like to stay up at night in bed and read, so lamps were a must. The style of the Brass Diamond Table Lamp was exactly the look I was going for – and I just love the way they fit the space!
We now have our light and bright serene space and I could not be happier with the outcome – all while staying on budget!
