We are starting to get settled in our new house. Boxes are almost all unpacked and we’re starting to tackle more cosmetic projects now (yay!). Our light fixture in the dining room wasn’t terrible, it just wasn’t my style. The lights burned out SO fast and we didn’t want to replace them since we knew we were swapping it out, so I was able to talk my husband into changing out the fixture sooner than I had expected! Woo hoo! So, let’s get to the “before” picture…
This was the fixture that was here when we bought the house. Like I said, it’s not terrible! It just was not my taste, and didn’t mesh well with the style I have going in our house now.
I looked around at TONS of Pendant Lights and finally settled on this one from World Market. I love the style and you seriously can’t beat that price!
THANK GOD my husband knew what he was doing because I didn’t have the first clue about where to start with this one! He has a lot of DIY experience, so he was able to tackle this one on his own with me by his side for moral support. (The only thing I did was pick out our new fixture – love when that happens!)
He started by turning off the electricity to the fixture and taking down the old one. He had to trim down the chain and cord on the new fixture because it was way too long for our room. He said it was not a big deal to do (I didn’t hear any swearing and his fingers are all still intact, so he must be telling the truth).
He snipped some wires, twisted them a few times and TA DA! it was done! (Ha! I wish it was that easy! But for real, if anyone has any specific questions on how to swap out a light fixture, I would be happy to ask him for you!)
And here’s the new one!
I could not be happier with how it looks in our dining room!
I feel like it really transforms the whole space and I just LOVE it!
