DIY Fringe Pillow

DIY Fringe Pillow

Have you noticed that fringe is EVERYWHERE now?  I’m LOVING it on shirts, swim suit tops, purses, you name it.  I love it so much, in fact, that I decided to bring it into my home decor with this fun DIY!  The best part… this project is NO SEW!

I grabbed one of my husbands plain white t-shirts (Thanks, Joe!), a plain white pillow, some scissors and some fabric glue – that’s it!

Once I had everything, I was ready to get to work.

I started by cutting off the bottom of the shirt.  By removing the hemmed part of the shirt, it made it quite a bit easier to cut the fringe.

Then I cut the fringe.  I drew a line on the shirt measuring the same height as the pillow. I didn’t measure the fringe cuts exactly, I just eyeballed all the measurements and tried to keep them all about the same size.   I cut all the fringe up to the line on the shirt.

I only cut as much fringe as I needed (the length of the pillow).  As you can see, I didn’t go all the way across the shirt.

After I was done cutting, I went through and pulled each piece of fringe.  It makes the edges curl up a bit, making them look a bit more “finished”.

See the difference between the pulled fringe and the not pulled fringe?

After all the strands were pulled, I took a highlighter and marked where I wanted to cut the fringe.  I think the angled fringe is so cute – so I went for that look!

I cut along where I marked – and this is how it turned out.  Loving it!

I took fabric glue and folded and glued the top edge down to give it a finished look.

Then I glued the whole piece along the top seam of the pillow.

That’s it!  How easy, right?!  I love it!  This would be so fun in all different colors!  What do you think?

I love how you upcycled the T-shirt into Home decor! I did somsthing similar using scarves for throw pillows back in April!

This is such a cute and easy diy craft Mary. It kind of reminds me of Elvis when he was going thru his white jumpsuit with fringe stage. Love it. I am going to pin and share and I want to thank you for joining us this week and providing us with much sweet inspiration.
