There’s nothing better than a themed New Year’s party – especially when you can DIY everything… on the cheap! I’ve included a few projects in this post, so you can pick and choose which project will fit your party – or do them all!
1.) DIY Drink Stirrers & Appetizer Toothpicks
To make these SUPER easy cute little party accents, you’ll need:
To make the star toothpicks and drink stirrers, I took two stickers and stuck one on each side of the stick. That’s all you need to do. So easy!
To make the pom pom toothpicks and drink stirrers, I took the hot glue gun and put a dab of glue on the pom pom. I held the stick on the glue until the glue dried and hardened. It stays in place really well after the glue dries. Done!
2.) DIY Bow Tie Napkins
Even if your party isn’t a black tie event, doesn’t mean your dinnerware and place settings have to be casual! This little project is an easy way to dress up any table setting. What you’ll need:
Start with a black napkin. Party City has literally EVERY color of plates, napkins, cups, you name it. So if you don’t have any black napkins laying around, just head over to Party City (or order on Amazon) and pick up a pack for $3.
Fold it in half.
Take the ends of the napkin on each side and fold them up to the top crease.
Take the ends and fold them down one more time, kind of like an accordion, but continue pinching the folds in the middle only.
Then, all that’s left to do is wrap a ribbon around the middle of the bowtie, and hot glue the end down so it stays.
Then all you’ll need to do is put them on your plate! The guests can just slide their ribbon off, or you can have scissors handy and just cut everyone’s ribbon when it’s time to eat.
3.) Free Printable “Midnight Kisses” Bag Tag
This would make a great accent to each persons place setting, or a cute party favor to hand out at midnight!
Just print the PDF Printable link below, fill up bags with Hershey Kisses, and tie the bag tags on with some festive ribbon!
Doesn’t get much easier than that!
4.) DIY New Year’s Eve Headbands
These are great because you can either do them ahead of time for your guests to receive when they arrive, OR if you’re having a crafty bunch, you can have all the supplies out for everyone to make their own at the party!
The fun thing about these is that there is no “wrong” way to do them. You can make them simple, or wild – it’s really up to you!
My 3 year old daughter literally helped me with all these projects – they are THAT easy. I hope this helped inspire you for your own party planning!
Wishing everyone a happy and healthy New Year!
